New Plymouth: 12 degrees, clouded over, overnight but clearing to a sunny day, I think. Light SE breeze.

Port Robinson, North Canterbury 8.25am
Mostly overcast with a slight break in the clouds. Temperature 8.2° which is the low and expecting a high of 15°. Wind from WSW with the highest gust in the last hour of 17.5kph. 12.4mm of rain since midnight.

A little more rain for Napier - a brief shower just before midnight, then a short period of heavier showers around 0400, with a peak instantaneous rainfall rate of 25mm/hr at 0418. Some dribs and drabs later, and brief light showers currently. Temp 10.4 C here, with a faint SW air. So far today we've received 9.8mm, giving us a total so for this weather system of 31.1mm.
And oops - 0846 and here comes another heavier shower.... :o

Ha, ha, finally a "minus' temp reported from NZ... :)
Our forecast is + 16 for Sunday, so we're going in the right direction while the South Island will probably go more towards the "minus", although maybe not as bad as we (still) see here...

we eventually got ourselves a superb autumn day once the fog lifted around midday.
we reached 19.4°C at 4pm after being 8°C at midday.
very light breeze which didn't have enough puff to cool things down at all.
cooling off quickly now. currently 14.7°C.
