Post by: Mark on March 30, 2013, 09:01:28 AM
In parts of counties Antrim and Down, drifts have reached 20 feet (6m) high. More snow in the forecast.

“The extreme weather conditions have had a devastating effect on Northern Ireland’s farmers,” said Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Theresa Villiers.

More than 140,000 electricity customers who lost power when the wintry blast struck the eastern counties of the region last Thursday and Friday have had supply restored.

Fifth Day Without Power For Thousands

However, more than 3,000 properties in Scotland are still without power as forecasters predict more snow and freezing conditions.

Now, a week later, some 3,300 still remain without power.
