Title: 1 - 0 for the Hairdryer...........
Post by: avoorpool on March 20, 2013, 09:21:12 AM
OMG, it's only 12 hours to Spring, however still needed some 'Winter Maintenance' on my Anenometer.....???

Not a scene you'll often see in NZ, I guess, but Toronto is 'different'..!!!

After a night of above zero temperatures and rain, around noon the temp started to drop significantly........
With all the moisture, you guess it.....
The Wind vane was dancing around in wind gusts of 20 - 30 km/h, but the Anenometer didn't #%@F move at all....
Since it's mounted on top of my backyard fence (approx. 10 ft above the ground) and you don't want to 'force' it, the solution was dangerous (hanging on top of a ladder in snow blasts and wind gusts), but simple..  8)...
An extension cord and a Hairdryer  :)  :)
Moisture evaporated and it's up and running again.....  ???

Just in case the NZ fall and winter is turning 'bad', take the 'hint'...  :)

Cheers,

Arthur
