New Plymouth: 20 degrees, light rain, NE breeze. Rain finally arrived around 5am or so. As usual, I don't see what point is of issuing a severe weather warning for us when it is a very small amount of rain

I'd guess the city has had at least 60mm already, far more than the 15-25mm that would have sufficed. These downpours are becoming too frequent.
