Observation for 28th December 2012:
This is becoming somewhat monotonous and very tedious, hot and sticky with intermittent drizzle interspersed with the odd heavier shower, dull and overcast here but clear and sunny most of the time out on the ocean beach at Mt Maunganui & Papamoa.  The farmers are still rejoicing as with these types of conditions they can just about see the grass grow; if only it would stop I could mow my lawns.  The farmer’s crop of Turnips over the back has absolutely taken off in the last week and you can hardly see any dirt in the paddock now, just a sea of bright green, he is over the moon.  The forecast for tomorrow is for a better day then more rain on Sunday.  On a brighter note the temperature today and now this evening is a bit cooler today which is nice, the Humidex is currently at 25.3c, under 30c for a change.

Current Recordings at 19:45
Temp: 18.8c Going Down, Humidity 99%, Rain: 4.8mm, Average Wind Speed (10 Mins) 4km/h ENE, Pressure 1020.1 hPa and falling.

Title: Friday's national forecast
Post by: OhauitiWeather on December 28, 2012, 10:37:46 PM
Posted by wwadmin on Fri, 28/12/2012 - 05:00

High pressure sits out to the east of New Zealand today while a humid northerly airflow lies over the country. The North Island is likely to see cloudy areas and a few showers especially afternoon in inland areas and a similar situation is in store for the upper South Island. About Otago and Southland conditions are looking rather pleasant.

Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with light winds generally tending northerly. The odd shower about although dry to start in the Waikato and about the Bay Of Plenty. In the afternoon showers spreading into the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty, showers may become heavy then easing at night.
HIGHS: 23-26

Lower North Island

Mostly cloudy skies although there may be a few sunny areas, winds tending northerly, northeasterly on the east coast. The odd light shower about but dry areas also, dry in Kapiti and Wellington. During the afternoon showers may become a bit heavier in inland areas, possibly even thundery then easing at night.
HIGHS: 23-26 in the west, 22-24 in the east

Upper South Island

A mix of sunny areas and some cloud, light winds for most although northeasterly breezes a bit keen on the east coast. Skies may be mostly cloudy on the plains about Canterbury with only a few sunny breaks in the afternoon. In inland areas north of North Canterbury a few isolated showers develop late afternoon possibly becoming heavy and thundery then clearing at night.
HIGHS: 22-24 for most, perhaps high 20’s in some inland sheltered areas.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds, northeasterlies pick up after midday on the east coast where there will be some cloud pushing in. A bit of cloud about the Fiordland coastline also with northerlies there.
HIGHS: 20-22, mid 20’s in inland areas.
