Upper North Island
Cloudy areas and some sun today, southwesterly breezes. Expect longer sunny breaks in the Bay Of Plenty. Mostly sunny with some cloud in Gisborne, westerlies ease in the morning and tend northeast late afternoon.
HIGHS: 17-18 for most today, 19-20 for Bay Of Plenty and Gisborne.
Lower North Island
Westerly breezes with mostly cloudy skies, any morning showers clear. The odd sunny break developing in the afternoon. Mostly sunny about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay, westerlies ease in the morning tending northeast late afternoon. Sunny and cloudy periods in Wellington with light winds freshening a little from the northwest late afternoon.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most. 18-19 about Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa.
Upper South Island
West to southwest breezes on the West Coast north of Greymouth bring areas of cloud, morning showers ease off and becoming mostly dry although there is the chance of one or two lingering during the day. Mostly sunny in Nelson and Marlborough with light winds. A mix of sunny areas and some cloud in Canterbury, light winds pick up from the east in the afternoon.
HIGHS: 18-19 about Nelson and Marlborough. Mid teens on the West Coast, 16-17 in Canterbury.
Lower South Island
Sunny areas and some cloud on the West Coast south of the Glaciers with west to southwest breezes, about Fiordland cloud may be thicker with the odd shower at times. Westerlies in Southland a little gusty at times, expect cloudy areas and the odd shower at times, long dry spells also however. In the evening winds tend more southwest with showers becoming a bit more widespread. Sunny areas and some cloud about Otago with westerly breezes, showers later in the evening as a southwest change moves through.
HIGHS: 15-16 about Southland and Otago, 13-14 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers. High teen temperatures for some Central Otago areas.

Observation: Monday was quite a nice day, even got the shorts out for a period during the afternoon but the High Level cloud thickened up somewhat in the later afternoon and evening and it got quite cool despite the Westerly Breeze abating somewhat as the day wore on.
