Current Observation: Fine. Another brilliantly fine and very warm (warmest yet) day with little or no breeze and just the very occassional bit of fluffy cloud floating by, for spring weather it don't get much better than this. Now that the sun has set there seems to be a little more bite in the wind.
Current Recordings: Temp: 13.8c Going down, Humidty: 80%, Rain: 0.0 mm, Average Wind Speed (10 Mins): 16 km/h SW, Pressure 1012.3 hPa Rising.

Upper North Island
Southwesterly breezes in the west today from Waikato through to Northland, expect mostly sunny weather with some cloud, southwesterlies may become brisk in the afternoon right on the coast. Sunny with light winds in the Bay Of Plenty and about the Central North Island. Mostly sunny weather for Gisborne with northeasterly breezes on the coast.
HIGHS: 18-19 degrees today about most areas in the west including Auckland. 20-21 for the Waikato, Central North Island and Bay of Plenty. 23-24 in Gisborne.
Lower North Island
Mostly sunny with westerly breezes in Taranaki turning more northwest about Kapiti and Wellington. Sunny in the Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa with northeasterlies right on the coast, winds tending more northwest inland mainly in Wairarapa.

Upper South Island
Very pleasant and sunny weather for the upper South Island today, light winds on the east coast and southwesterly breezes hang about on the West Coast during the day. Expect a few areas of cloud on the West Coast. About Canterbury conditions will be mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, winds will mostly be light. Cloudy areas about South Westland, cloudy in Fiordland with the odd shower, westerlies. High cloud elsewhere with light winds tending westerly. In the afternoon winds tend more southwest especially about Southland and Coastal Otago, this will bring some cloud and a few showers.

Temperatures are on the up for quite a few central and eastern areas today and the mid to high twenties are looking a real target.
Dry and often sunny skies are expected for three quarters of the nation and it's just the South Island's West Coast and also the far south that could see thickening cloud with the chance of drizzly showers or light rain.
Overnight saw relatively clear skies for almost the entire country and the thermometers certainly cooled off in some inland areas particularly.Auckland saw some cloud and again this morning but hopefully it'll burn off as the day kicks into gear.
Parts of Canterbury were very cool and this morning Ashburton got down as low as two degrees whereas 25 degrees is looking likely today for the Mid Canterbury town.A rise of nearly 25 degrees in a day is quite an impressive range.
Tonight Halloween still looks good for trick or treaters and only some frontal activity might make the footpaths and streets a little slippery along the west and south of the Mainland.
Guy Fawkes officially falls on next Monday however quite a few are making the most of it this coming weekend.Conditions look a little patchy across the South Island but more promising across much of the North island on Saturday night with the exception perhaps of Northland.
For those wanting to hold it officially on Monday night the South Island looks a little more settled than the North Island as a depression could be lurking over or near the upper north and potentially lasting for a few days.
Officially the last day of the middle of spring is today and overall there shouldn't be too many complaints about the weather for the most part.
