A frontal boundary will be drifting north across the island today, bringing with it a chance for showers. In addition to plenty of clouds, this could kick off a few showers across the island.
Showers have been moving across the lower North Island during the overnight hours. As we go throughout the day, the front will slowly begin to affect the western and upper North Island late this afternoon or this evening. Lower North Island locations like Taranaki, Wanganui, the Kapiti Coast and Wellington will likely see shower chances persist for much of the day. Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay could end up seeing another settled day, although it should be fairly cloudy.
On the South Island, the upper regions will likely see shower chances persist for much of the day, although they will diminish somewhat as we get into this afternoon and this evening.
The eastern and lower parts of the island will see shower chances diminish this morning. Settled weather is expected for this afternoon and this evening.
