Here's a look at how the weather is shaping up today and we've broken it down into four sections.
Upper North Island
Mostly sunny weather with areas of cloud at times particularly in the west, southwesterly breezes. Mostly sunny about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with light northeasterlies, morning cloud clears.
Temperatures getting into the high teens or early 20’s today.
Lower North Island
Some morning cloud about Wellington and Wairarapa with a chance of morning drizzle which will clear, sunny areas develop from mid to late morning. Cloud persisting for a fair amount of the day from Taranaki through to Kapiti with morning drizzle possible there also. Northwesterly breezes increase about Wellington from afternoon.
Expect 16 to 17 for the lower North Island today, perhaps getting into the high teens in Wairarapa.
Upper South Island
Light winds for Nelson and Marlborough, some high cloud thickening. High cloud in Canterbury with northeasterly breezes easing later in the day, morning low cloud clears. Look for a northwest arch and nice sunset later in the day. Some cloud increasing about North Westland and Buller with northerlies, a few showers develop later in the evening.
High’s of 18 and 19 from Nelson through to Canterbury. 14 to 15 in Buller and North Westland.
Lower South Island
Becoming cloudy about Fiordland and South Westland this morning with northeasterly winds increasing during the day, drizzle in Fiordland by midday turns to showers by evening and rain at night. Thickening high cloud in Southland and Otago with light winds tending northeast near the coast in Otago and more northwest inland, the odd sporadic area of rain spreads from the west into inland central areas from late afternoon.
15 to 16 degree high’s in Otago and Southland today, 12 in Fiordland with 14 in South Westland.
