We got our maximum temperature today at 2.21 pm of 16.5 c.
It got windy as the day went on with the maximum gust recorded at 3.O3 pm

Gusty westerlies lie over the North Island today tending more northwest on the east coast in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy in western areas with sunnier spells at times north of Auckland, a few showers during the day south of the Waikato coastline in the west. There is the low risk of the odd shower about Auckland mainly in the morning. A mix of sunny areas and some cloud in the Bay Of Plenty, sunny weather on the east coast. Gusty northwesterlies in Wellington, strong to gale force from evening especially about the coast, a few early showers clear then dry with sunnier weather.
Showers on the West Coast of the South Island with a few thundery falls especially from afternoon in the south then spreading northwards, showers also in Nelson and about the Marlborough Sounds, strong westerly winds. Snow flurries in South Westland to 600m in the evening lowering to 300m at night about Fiordland, snow developing to 600m at night in North Westland. Mostly sunny on the east coast with strong northwesterlies gale force at times in the afternoon about Canterbury and Marlborough particularly inland.
Mostly cloudy in Southland with strong northwesterlies and the odd shower possible spreading from the west, more widespread showers from evening as winds change strong to gale southwesterly. Snow flurries to 500m from evening in Southland lowering to sea level overnight. Gusty northwesterlies in Otago strong at times, the odd shower spreading from the west in inland areas, sunnier nearer the coast. Winds tend strong southwesterly gale force about the coast overnight with snow flurries developing to 300m.
16 to 17 degrees tomorrow north of Auckland, about the Bay Of Plenty and along the east coast. 13 to 14 degrees for most other North Island areas, the West Coast of the South Island, Nelson and eastern Otago. 16 to 17 degrees can be expected along the east coast of the South Island, 11 to 12 in Southland and Central Otago.

It will be another day of strong westerlies across the country. The main focus for the strong winds will be about central New Zealand and the lower South Island.
Strong winds are expected to strengthen to severe gale force about the deep south this evening. Gusts of up to 120 km/h are expected in exposed areas tonight and lasting into the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday. Government forecaster MetService has a Strong Wind Warning in effect for Southland, Clutha and Dunedin.
Otago could see winds approaching severe gale force tonight.
MetService also has a Strong Wind Warning in effect for Wairarapa. Winds are expected to strengthen to severe gale force this evening and last until Tuesday morning. 120 km/h gusts are expected in exposed places.
Wellington, Marlborough and Canterbury may also see severe gale force winds later today into tonight. These areas will be monitored carefully for a possible warning.
