White Island's volcanic alert level raised followed eruption
Breaking News (+ Photos of eruption) --- GNS Science has raised White Island's Volcanic Alert Level to 2 following a small eruption on Sunday. The aviation level was raised from green to yellow last Thursday and tonight it has been raised to Orange.
The White Island web camera operated by GNS captured a small eruption on Sunday morning at 4:55am from the Crater Lake just days after advising the public of increased activity.

The first eruption of Mount Tongariro in a century was preceded by a lift in the alert level yesterday of New Zealand’s largest volcano - White Island in the Bay of Plenty.
White Island’s alert level was raised to Level 2 at 6.30pm last night – about six hours before the eruption on Mt Tongariro’s Te Mari crater.
