Heavy rain for the lower and central North Island today.

A front over the lower North Island this Monday morning is forecast to move slowly eastwards, to lie just east of Bay of Plenty tonight. The front is preceded by strong to gale northerlies and rain. Heavy rain is expected to continue for a few more hours about Taranaki and the Tararua Range, last into the afternoon over the central North Island hill country, but not ease until tonight over the eastern Bay of Plenty Ranges where up to 120mm is possible there.
Members of the public are advised to be cautious around swollen rivers and streams and that slips and surface flooding are still possible.
