Title: Sunday is the NI's turn to get wet

Saturday has been a pretty wet day for the upper and western regions of the South Island. The cause of the rainfall has been a slow moving frontal boundary. A boundary that will now make its way a bit further north and start to spread rain over much of the North Island tomorrow.

The far southern regions of the NI saw some rain today with some heavy rain falling about Taranaki. Government forecaster MetService is continuing their Heavy Rain Warnings for Taranaki through tomorrow. MetService expects another 250 to 350mm of rain about the upper slopes by midday on Monday.

Rain chances will go up across much of the NI during the overnight hours. Most areas should see some rain by morning. Gisborne and Northland may have to wait until midday for the rain.

Heavy rain chances should remain confined to the Taranaki region tomorrow. Isolated pockets of heavy rain are possible about Wanganui and Wairarapa, but the chances aren't very good.

Wind is also a concern tomorrow. Severe gales are possible about the lower North Island and far upper South Island. The Marlborough Sounds, Wellington and southern Wairarapa are at greatest risk for developing severe north to northwest gales overnight and early Sunday morning.  This does not mean the gales WILL develop.  However, conditions appear ripe for their development.

For the South Island tomorrow, many areas are looking at a dry day for at least half the day. It may not start out that way though with morning rain chances for much of the island, and the rain may linger about the upper South Island during the afternoon and evening. But the eastern and southern parts of the island are likely to see things settle by midday. The West Coast may have to wait until mid-afternoon.

Still dark in Waitakere, but obviously very overcast and we have some very light rain falling which has tipped the buckets once for 0.2 mm recorded - that will increase fairly soon as looking at the radar, the rain is getting ever closer (and I am likely to get wet at the beach with the dog).
Its mild, overnight low was 9.8°C, current is 12.3°C and wind has picked up a bit.

Dull overcast with 14°C and some very light rain this morning for Howick.  Overnight low was a nice mild 13°C

Cloudy here with a Northeast wind of 19km/h.
Air temp=12c im going for a high of 20c as long as the skys clear.
If sky dont clear a high of 17c.

Very light rain still here, even escaped anything serious at the beach, though out to sea it was just almost a single shade of grey.  Looking at the radar, the main rain has tracked down south of the Manukau Harbour and missed coming over the Waitakeres.  Still, we've recorded 1.6 mm total so far, temperature is up to 12.9°C

North Islanders can expect a pretty wet day. Rain will cover much of the island with some heavy rain possible about Taranaki where a Heavy Rain Warning remains in effect. Isolated pockets of heavy rain are also possible about Wanganui and Wairarapa. But government forecaster MetService does not feel a warning is warranted at this time.
 
Wind will also be an issue. Severe gales are possible about the lower North Island and far upper South Island. The Marlborough Sounds, Wellington and southern Wairarapa could all see severe north to northwest gales this morning. The chances are not high enough to warrant a warning at this point. However, conditions are certainly ripe for the development of those winds.
 
For the South Island, the west and north are off to a rainy start. However, this should ease later on today. However, it may take until late afternoon to clear the rain out.
 
For the southern and eastern sections of the South Island, expected settled weather to move in around midday. This afternoon should be pretty nice with some peeks of sunshine developing.

West Melton

An update on our weather as temp has risen to 20.2 deg with full sun and no wind .  Nornaly if we got this at this time of the year we would get a heavy snowfall the following day - and it is not forecasted.
Will enjoy the sun outside with sunglasses on and listen to the birds.

Tokoroa - Sunday 15th July

Reached 12.1deg at midday and its been raining since 7:30am. Had 27.2mm of rain so far and the northerly wind has been gusting over 40km/hr last two hours. Currently 11.7deg. Best stay inside

New Plymouth:Mild and humid day around 15 degrees, some rain and moderate winds, then light rain, quite misty looking but water enough in it. Darn lawns have grown yet again with the moisture, so plenty of cutting due, later in the week.

Some moderate totals on North Egmont: 351mm so far. Nothing extraordinary in that but wet enough for anyone out in the bush!

Quite wet in Waitakere now, rain has been falling steadily since around 12.30 today at about 1 mm/hr (give or take a bit) and so far we've recorded 8.6 mm.  It's pretty mild on it too - currently 13.4°C and the high was 14.1°C
