Very brisk in Waitakere and surrounds this morning - though it's not actually our coldest morning recently, it certainly feels like it.  Up at our place the low has been 2.4°C, in the valley it's the heaviest the frost has been though - big crystals and cars more heavily iced.
It's a beautiful and clear morning on the whole - will be a nice and sunny day.

Cloud building in Waitakere, has completely slowed the drop in temperature to a grinding halt and may even climb up a bit, 8.9°C now.  The high today made it up to 14.2°C and it's basically been sunny all day.

Observation:  Another Sunny and warm (Shirtsleeves and bare feet) day in the Western Bay of Plenty today.  Not quite a Blue Dome day today unlike yesterday with just a few innocuous white fluffies around.  Actually Broke out the shorts for a few hours Sunday while mowing the lawns and doing some chores on the property.  Cooling down now and expecting another frosty start tomorrow morning.  I am relaibly informed by the farmer next door that both this morning and yesterday morning there was a good thickness of ice on the troughs down the valley and the cows have been practising their skating skills on the cowshed yards.

Title: Monday is looking like another sunny day
Post by: OhauitiWeather on July 09, 2012, 07:06:56 PM
High pressure continues to slowly move across the Tasman Sea, controlling our weather as it does.

That means a settled day is expected across most of the country.  Gisborne is likely to see a few showers tomorrow.  Hawkes Bay could also see some showers, but the chances are not as great.

The rest of the country will see a mainly sunny day.

It will likely be a frosty morning for some areas.  The coolest temperatures will be found about the deep south with morning lows below zero for inland Southland and Central Otago.  Much of Canterbury could also be falling below zero before sunrise.

For daytime highs, the coolest temperatures will be found about the deep south with highs struggling to reach the double digits.  The warmest temperatures will likely be about Bay of Plenty, Coromandel Peninsula and Northland with highs pushing into the mid teens.

Title: Monday’s national forecast
Post by: OhauitiWeather on July 09, 2012, 07:10:54 PM
Cloudy along the east coast of the North Island today with southerly breezes, a few light showers at times mainly north of the Wairarapa. Other areas can expect a sunny day with light winds coming from the south or southeast, cold and frosty in inland areas to start with frosty conditions returning at night. High’s in the mid teens across the upper North Island and low double figure temperatures on the east coast.

Mostly sunny for the South Island however areas of cloud are quite possible around all coastlines, conditions once again will be frosty to start in inland areas and frosts will return at night. Light winds in all areas however west to northwest breezes about Southland, a few light showers may move into the southwestern corner of Fiordland at times aswell. High’s of 11 or 12 degrees for most places, perhaps getting into the teens in northern areas of the South Island. Central Otago remaining in the single figures.
