Waitakere
Definitely our coldest night of the year, temperature is 2.3°C and still on the way down - very calm and clear outside.

Inside temperature was 12.1°C but going up now I've turned 3 heaters on (using around 6.4 kW)  ;)

Definitely our coldest night of the year, temperature is 2.3°C and still on the way down - very calm and clear outside.Temperature is still hovering around just above 2°C (2.2°C is the lowest so far) - but we actually have a thin covering of ice on our roof, very rare for us up here. Not a hint of frost on the grass though, but I expect that through the valley out to the beach there will be plenty.

a chilly one in Reefton too. currently -3.7°C with a low of -4.1°C recorded earlier.
some wispy cloud about now. hopefully we don't cloud over before we've had a chance to warm up or she could be a miserable one.

just got some more coal in for the fire. 15.2°C inside and climbing.

A low of 0.1°C for Howick which is equal to my record low. A good crunchy frost. Some puffs of wind during the night kept raising the temperature so we probably would have got under 0 if it had been completely calm.

Waitakere's low ended up being 2.1°C, some good frost seen in paddocks in the valley on the way to the beach.  Some chilly looking surfers braving the cold!
Temperature is up to 8.8°C now and heading for around 12°C if my forecast is on to it.

Title: Sunday’s national forecast
Post by: OhauitiWeather on June 17, 2012, 08:23:14 PM
A slim break in the weather today, enjoy it while it lasts. A narrow anticyclone is pushing east over us before the next system moves in from the Tasman Sea.
Mostly sunny weather expected over the North Island with light winds tending southerly in the morning then dying out. High cloud develops about Auckland in the morning and after midday in the West. There will be some morning showers clearing about the east coast however with sunny periods in the afternoon, chilly southwesterlies ease there. High’s of around 14 degrees for Northland and the Bay of Plenty, 10 to 12 degrees can be expected for most other areas.

Mostly sunny in Southland and along the east coast of the South Island with north to northeasterly breezes, high cloud will thicken during the day however and a few showers move in later at night. Cloud increasing around the upper South Island during the day with northeasterlies, a few showers at night. Cloud thickening during the day along the West Coast with freshening northeasterlies, rain from late afternoon in Fiordland spreading to most areas by evening. High’s of around 8 or 10 degrees for most areas.

A fine day here in Tokoroa - another frost, and then a sunny day.  A high of just 11.5ºC after a low of -5.0ºC which adds up to a strong diurnal 16.5deg temp rise for the day.  SE breeze turned westerly this morning at 11:30 and moved to WNW for the afternoon.  Another cool night tonight - last frost for a while I think with Northerly and Westerly winds coming this week.
