Description: This is another serious Climate Change problem that we are experiencing in Paekakariki ... ballistic Westerly rain, particularly with the troughs. We get West Coast rain here now, and it blasts in at >100 km/h and dumps rain at anything from 1 to 3mm per minute and floods us. In this pic, it fell at the rate of 3mm/minute and was so intense that it literally rained leaves off trees, messing up the streets here. On 3rd January 54 mm fell in 32 minutes, @ 110 km/h, causing damage and flooding here. This pic shows trough rain heading straight into Paekakariki as a Nor Wester from Kapiti Island. The mad precipitation was so intense that it created a whiteout.
