Nice photos.  We must get filters for the camera and telescope.  We had a solar visor and enjoyed a view for most of the day here on Norfolk Island.  We shared it with the locals so others could safely have a look.  Now for the Eclipse of the sun on 14th Nov 2012

No mask, just a mylar solar filter on the front of the 1000mm cassegrain telephoto lens.

The other specks - are they earth satellites as they appear stationery to the camera frame of reference?

Ok thanks - that makes sense - satellites would be so small in the image to be not actually visible - the "spots" as seen in both sets of images and different locations appeared to be in the same places.
