June 06, 2012, 06:00:50 PM Nice photos. We must get filters for the camera and telescope. We had a solar visor and enjoyed a view for most of the day here on Norfolk Island. We shared it with the locals so others could safely have a look. Now for the Eclipse of the sun on 14th Nov 2012

June 06, 2012, 07:09:04 PM Well done - great images and well put together to share! Did you use a mask for the edges of the sun?

June 06, 2012, 07:15:47 PM No mask, just a mylar solar filter on the front of the 1000mm cassegrain telephoto lens.

June 06, 2012, 08:23:30 PM The other specks - are they earth satellites as they appear stationery to the camera frame of reference?

June 07, 2012, 08:50:43 AM Ok thanks - that makes sense - satellites would be so small in the image to be not actually visible - the "spots" as seen in both sets of images and different locations appeared to be in the same places. Last modified by: TokWW June 07, 2012, 08:52:25 AM
