Description: A huge mesocyclone formed just to the north of us. It had a beautiful smooth rotating top on this cyclone. The cloud to the LHS of it formed the front which ran out to Kapiti Island, intersecting with another front. 15 May 2015. They're like a miniature westerly, with the rotating cyclone and the line of low pressure extending from that. The actual cyclogenesis is explosive, and you almost get wiped out by wind when they explode. Orographic uplift is likewise explosive.
