I havent written anything on here for a long while and for that I am truly sorry, pills, potions, doctors and specialists seem to get in the way.

Have you ever wondered what the people behind the weather stations and behind the comments on the forum actually look like? well here's two of them from the hilltop in Kelson!

Have been "watching" the Cricket Test on Espncricinfo.com South Africa v Black Caps at University Oval, Dunedin.
Noticed the following this morning in their online commentary..

11.10am It isn't raining but the covers are back on. "Light mizzle coming in again. This could ruin the game altogether.
In interest of getting a result we need to be cautious," says umpire Bruce Oxenford.

Anthony: "Light 'mizzle' could ruin the game altogether? Sometimes I wish cricket wasn't so precious. And no grown man should utter the word 'mizzle'!"

Had to chuckle 8)

Babs Hair Raising

I am a shampoo freak, nah let’s rephrase that, I am a hair product addict. That sounds better. Companies that produce new hair products must love people like me as I am always on the lookout for new shampoos, serums, conditioners etc., you name it I buy it.

Him Indoors sighs as another range of products are spread along the bathroom windowsill, stuffed in the vanity cupboard or crammed in the shower basket. The left over products all go to a good home as I have friends that are also shampoo fiends. Now that I shop on line a whole new world of hair products at the supermarket has opened up to me.

I also find myself lurking around department stores in the Electrical Departments casting an envious eye over all the new hair driers, curling wands, hair straightening irons and hot air rollers.

When the junk mail arrives I head straight to the electrical section to see if any new and exciting hair appliances have been advertised.

This Christmas holidays I decided to let my long naturally curly hair do it’s own thing instead of being fried by a hair straightener. Took a few days to get used to the fact that I was putting a poodle to shame but after a week I got used to the look and the fact that becoming natural saved me about 20 to 30 minutes each day. That time was spent wisely on walks and taking photographs of the surrounding area, but I soon decided that my hair looked far better straight than looking like a floor mop.

So enjoy if you too are a hair product addict, it pays to look nice!!!!

True or false

The ants come inside, the cat washes behind her ears, my muscles get sorer and sorer, the pinecones close up and there is a ring around the moon. Wet weather is due within a few days. True or false?

I remember my grandparents having a little weather house that hung on the dining room wall, you know the one where the little old lady comes out when it is going to be fine and sunny and the little old man comes out when wet weather has arrived or visa versa. I don’t know whether, (see there’s the weather word again only in a different format), or not you can still buy these weather houses. My granddad always consulted it before going to do any gardening and it never seemed to let him down. My dad used to tap the barometer each day; again I don’t really know why he did that.

When there is a red sunrise so I go around chanting’ red sky at night sailors delight, red sky in the morning shepherds warning’ or something similar.

The ants, who we call ‘The Aunties’ don’t like wet feet so come inside to stay dry during the wet times. As I believe there is a reason for all sentient life we let them get on with whatever ants do, put the sugar in the fridge, seal up other sweet stuff and they leave us alone.

The cat has never been wrong in her rain predictions, at your peril try and stop her from any ear or face washing. Pain factors in humankind seem a little harder to prove. I have had many a debate with doctors in trying to get them to understand that I do hurt more when wet weather is due and medical and scientific research has finally backed me up.

So should I consult the cat from now on? Get me a Weather House? Watch the moon for developments?

I have read a lot in English magazines and on the Daily Mail site about Quality Street sweets,  so I thought while we were in the Warehouse today,  and who wasn't,  that I would buy some as they were on special and do a tasting this afternoon.

Now I have a particularly sweet tooth as do most Taureans  I believe,  so I opened the box,  unwrapped the sweets and chomped on a few. I don't know what the fuss is about or the outrageous cost,  25 dollars for a large tin and that was before the mark down.

I don't mean to offend any of our UK visitors or weather members but give me Macintosh toffee's any day. At least I can get my teeth into those.

Oh and have you tried freezing pineapple lumps or Toffee Pops,  to die for,  as not only do they taste better but they last longer.

We came home with quite a haul of marked down imported sweets which intrepid will probably hide around the house although he does feed me chunks of chocolate each night on the grounds that it makes me sleep better,  the last three night disproved that theory,  painkillers at bedtime proved to be tastier than chocolate,  now ice cream well that's a different story.

It's turned out a fine sun filled afternoon.  The house is free of cats and grandchildren till the weekend when we might have a pizza evening,  until later when my brain slips a cog or to and our hilltop gets a bit more interesting...

It is Boxing Day. I love Boxing Day as it means there is a whole year before Christmas bowls back again.

I have no idea where this year has gone. It only seems a few weeks ago I posted I would be pleased to see 2016 roll around as all station's year rainfall would be correct again.
....  and yep you guessed it, I will be happy to see 2017 for the same reason :)

Cheers to all and I wish you all the bestest and greatest for 2017 :)

As a demo of how the New Blog Section works here is a Christmas Joke:

Three men die on Christmas Eve and go to heaven, where they’re met by Saint Peter. “In order to get in,” he tells them, “you must each produce something representative of the holidays.”

The first man digs into his pockets and pulls out a match and lights it. “This represents a candle of hope.” Impressed, Peter lets him in.

The second man pulls out a tangle of keys and shakes them. “These are bells.” He’s allowed in too.

“So,” Peter says to the third man, “what do you have?”

The third man proudly shows him a pair of red panties.

“What do these have to do with Christmas?” asks Peter.

“They’re Carol’s.”
