Melbourne cup sweepstake
« on: November 03, 2014, 10:56:04 PM »
ok, I have to preface this by saying that I know nothing about horse racing. I could probably spot a horses head from a horses tail  but that would be it.  I've only just learnt that the Melbourne cup is tomorrow.

So a sweepstake, I thought would be a fun thing to do. I was going to dish donkeys out randomly but don't really have time now, so here's how it works

Below is a list of horses in the race. Pick at most two and post your choice below. If the horse you want is picked, find another one and pick that. Feel free to use form guides, coin tosses and prayers to higher beings. Only other rule is that your choice must be time stamped prior to the start of the race which I believe is 5pm nzdt

Here's the list. Best of luck.

Prize is bragging rights for the win. Extra bragging rights awarded if you can pick winner, and second or third place out of your two donkeys.

Hi itaranak18

Sorry, just two mules allowed. Hopefully this gives everyone a fair go without us running out of options. Did you want 12 or 24 as your second choice? We can make it 12 if we don't hear from you.

hope this is understandable  ;) but don't see an answer to your previous post.

Yep - only need 2 horses max. Either may win, or place for max bragging rights. Sorry but figured if everyone chose 3 horses we'd be out of options too quickly

I wanted who shot thebarman, cos I'll pick on name (Neighhhm - sorry bad pun!)

I'll go with 11 (Mutual Regard) and 18 (Aurevoir)

I won't be around on the forum just after 5pm so feel free to update the results, whoever gets here first!

Ok Results are out

1: Protectionist (05)
2: Red Cadeaux (04)
3: Who Shot Thebarman (12)

Looks like no-one picked the winner, so it's officially a tie between iomkiwi and itaranaki18. Congrats  :D
