if you are using 1&1 as a web server, they are migrating people over to secure FTP
I have new versions of the WD FTP programs in the latest full install version to support fully secure FTP
(ssh or ssl , which you select in the connections setup , along with the appropriate port number (which can be different for secure FTP)
