WD Beta version
« on: February 07, 2015, 08:23:03 AM »
Hi all
Last March I lost my hard drive on my development laptop
was catastrophic failure
and at the same time I just formated my main back up usb driver and had put Ubuntu on that to try install the latest linux distro on my linux pc...was bad timing
I managed to get some back up files off that with special software
It has taken my since then to get WD reserected again , i.e the beta version, thanks to hard work by a group of guys helping me find problems etc
there are new features , new icons, and the new free mobile app, WDliveapp , which works with the beta version (see under setup, send tether data to get the data going to that app (no setup needed in the app) for on your local WIFI,,and you can set the URL to your clientraw.txt file...so it uses that instead when you are away from home :)
there are also the new real time graphs in the beta version (see under setup , advanced/misc...then make the screen wider to see them (via the main screen customisation)..right mouse click on them to customise them.
there are still some things I need to get working correct with the beta version...

Thanks Brian. Have been watching development with interest but have not yet made the leap.

Did the webcam and SQL database modules survive into beta?

Edit: actually a better question might be to as if anything hasn't yet made it into the beta?

the web cam and mysql is all good
(as any separate .exe programs are not affected and the integration is supported OK now (eg all day movies, etc (see my own weather web site
West Coast Road Weather Data
)

you can just use the beta version .zip update
and unzip to where you have WD installed already
note the new .exe name, weatherdisplay.exe (i.e so you dont look your current version)
you will need though to unset your older version to start when windows starts and set the new version to start when windows starts
(setup, windows start up)

would be good to get some more beta testers
