Cumulus with Windows 10
« on: August 15, 2015, 06:23:41 AM »
Hey guys,

Just spent the last few hours trying to get Cumulus working right.  I kept getting errors in my Dayfile and Monthly log file.  Two things I found that should be noted...in case anyone hasn't come across it yet....

1) ensure that you have the NZ date format (or whatever you are using with the previous Windows settings) and make sure the date format is the same as what's in your 'dayfile' and the latest month log (Aug15log). In my case, I had to have the AM and PM changed to a.m. and p.m.
2) ensure that the 'Region', 'Additional Settings...'  has the List Separator  as a comma, not a semicolon!  I had semicolons being written into my dayfile and monthly logs and couldn't figure out where it was coming from! Change this to a comma (as in comma delimited) and all will be well!

Intrepid did you just upgrade to windows 10 or was this a fresh install of Cumulus on a new Windows 10 PC?

Hi Jenny Leez.

It was an upgrade to Windows 10. There were a few changes to everything but figured out how to get Cumulus working again.

Cheers

Ok so an upgrade. Therefore after upgrade, Cumulus ran but was throwing out errors.
Got you.

Did Cumulus retain your history?

Is Cumulus showing your month and year Rainfall on you PC?

Its running as per normal at the moment but all the Highs and Lows have gone!  Can't imagine why...but there you go!

I made the mistake of renaming the Dayfile as a backup file and that caused Cumulus to start with a new Dayfile.  When I reversed the change, the Highs and Lows disappeared...not sure why.

Hi Intrepid,

Do you mean the All time records?
If so you can reset them here in Cumulus:
Edit - All Time Records - Fetch Dayfile - then click copy all the way down to copy over.

Cheers

I have decided after a few questions to make all this clearer with screenshots as users are slowing upgrading to Windows 10.

Upgrading to Windows 10 may have changed your regional settings - in particular the the date/time formats.
In some cases for the New Zealand region, the list separator has been changed from a comma to a semicolon.
Most relevant it appears is the am & pm format change under the New Zealand region.

If this is the case Cumulus will not start, throwing those dreaded error messages.
Below are the settings that will correct this.

The first 3 screenshots are the settings that have worked for some.
The second one is using the UK regional settings.
The third one is the settings I have.
This can be found: Start - Settings - Time & Language - 'Date and Time'

To check the List separator select 'Additional Date, Time & Region' at the bottom.
As in screenshot 4 below change this to a comma.

To change the am & pm select the Tab 'Time" in that same window.
This should read all lower case and appears to be the important bit of keeping Cumulus happy :)
a.m.
p.m.

What worked for me was changing the List Separator plus the am & pm settings. So try screenshot 4 and 5 first.

1- Suggested NZ Regional Settings

2 - UK Regional Settings

3 - Jennys Settings

4 - List Separator

5 - am & pm Settings
